HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY TO ALL THE AWESOME MAMA’S OUT THERE!!!
I must confess, this blog post is about a very special Mama – MINE! A woman I love and look up to like no other. Sure, we butt heads sometimes, but that’s because we’re incredibly similar – stubborn, strong, articulate, and amazing . My Mama has taught me more life lessons than I can count…
She’s taught me about maintaining committed relationships (having been with my Dad for 36 years), compassion, love, truth and integrity. Really, that’s only naming a few. If I ever met a loyal Mama, this is it! I don’t think I could have ever asked for a better Mom. In hindsight, I wish it didn’t take me until my 20′s to realize this. But you know what they say, “everything’s 20/20 in hindsight”.
I’ll never forget when I was entering high school and my Mum decided to go to McMaster University and complete her Bachelors degree. It’s funny, at the time I just thought it was cool that she wanted to expand her knowledge and grow as a person. Little did I know that she went back to school to show me that anyone can do it – even a woman who had been out of school for many years. She completed her degree part time, while raising her 4 kids. When I look back to when I was completing my HBA and working 30 hours a week, I don’t know how she did it…especially since raising kids is like working 12043991 hours a week. Yes, I realize there probably isn’t that many hours in the week silly! That’s the point…my Mum is clearly superwoman The fact that she completed her degree is what pushed me to finish mine, even when I was at my lowest and ready to call it quits. I knew that if she could handle university with the demands of everyday life and taking care of a family, mine should be a piece of cake.
I’m so thankful to have her in my life, to spend our gym days together, and to be able to look up to her! I also love seeing her with my niece – not gonna lie, that’s pretty freaking cute.
I LOVE YOU MAMA XOXOXOXOXOXOXOXO TO THE MOON AND BACK!
